Battersea Power Station
STATS Modifications and External Works
Project Overview:
This project took place directly outside the iconic Battersea Power Station and involved complex modifications to underground services (STATS) in preparation for new external landscaping areas. Delivered in a high-profile, high-traffic environment, the works demanded meticulous planning, coordination, and compliance with multiple permitting authorities.
Project Highlights:
- Challenging Location: Situated within the Battersea Power Station development zone, the project required tight logistical management in one of London’s busiest regeneration areas.
- Thames River Authority Coordination: Due to the proximity of the river wall, works required approvals and permits from the relevant river authority, adding an additional layer of complexity and compliance to the programme.
- Live Environment: With constant pedestrian movement and ongoing commercial activity nearby, works were carried out in a fully live environment with robust safety and traffic management protocols in place.
- Permit-Based Delivery: All works were subject to a strict permit-based system, requiring careful scheduling of materials, labour, and plant to meet delivery and access constraints.
Conclusion:
This project highlights SB Construction’s capability to deliver essential infrastructure modifications in some of the most logistically and operationally challenging environments in the capital. By working closely with stakeholders and adhering to a rigid permit-controlled framework, we successfully prepared the site for future landscaping works, supporting the continued transformation of the Battersea Power Station district.
