Waitrose, Temple Fortune
Full Store Refurbishment
Project Overview:
This fast-track 5-week programme involved the complete refurbishment of an existing, tired Waitrose store during a full shutdown period. The project required intensive planning and delivery to bring the store up to current brand standards within a tight timeframe.
Project Highlights:
- Prime Location Challenges: Situated in the busy area of Temple Fortune—just minutes from the North Circular and parallel to the A1—careful logistical planning was essential to manage site access and minimise disruption in a high-traffic urban setting.
- Structural & Safety Works: Major works were undertaken to the external plant area, including fireproofing measures to protect the residential properties above, alongside temporary propping and structural enhancements.
- Essential Upgrades: The scheme involved new underground drainage installation and asbestos removal, along with extensive roof repairs to ensure long-term integrity of the building.
- M&E and Specialist Installations: A full M&E installation was carried out, including the integration of a new refrigeration system tailored to Waitrose operational requirements.
- High-Spec Fitout: The entire store was refitted to Waitrose’s current specification, delivering a fresh, modern retail environment ready for reopening.
Conclusion:
Delivered on time and to an exceptionally high standard, the Temple Fortune store was transformed into a modern, premium retail space that once again meets Waitrose’s brand expectations. Following several smaller refits over the years, this full refurbishment gives the site a new lease of life in a key London location.
